Tetyana’s Story
Growing up in a small village in Ukraine under strict communist rules was detriment to becoming a successful business owner in the United States, as private enterprise was forbidden and daily life offered no exposure to ownership, competition, or risk taking. The Iron Curtain further compounded this by keeping out information about Western markets and personal wealth, so when immigrating to the West at 19 years old, hearing someone say “my house and my business” was genuinely confusing and foreign.
But the dream of being successful to help her family was strong and alive. So, in this
environment Tetyana learned and studied languages feeling that this skill would support forward motion to success.
Teyana completed her college and with great struggle was able to immigrate to the
West, whereby this time she had mastered Russian, Slovakian and of course her native
Ukrainian. Continuous study and forward motion lead her to learn German, Polish and
English.
